How many treatments will it take to get relief?

This will vary from patient to patient, depending on the person’s constitution, the severity and length of time the illness has been there, the quality and quantity of the blood and qi that a person has. Typically patients will be seen 1-2 times a weeks to every other week until they are on a monthly health maintenance plan or just need a tune up.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes! Acupuncture provides several modalities besides just needles to treat you as a whole person as your personal constitution presents. Acupuncture needles are sterilized in single use packages, nontoxic, are not reused, and disposed of in a biohazard container, in the same manner as any other health care facility. In addition, acupuncture is known to be free from side effects often found from drug therapy. It is a simple and safe way to treat a wide range of illness and disharmonies effectively.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Very fine surgical steel needles are used and typically are inserted without discomfort.

What is Yin and Yang in terms of Qi and Blood in Chinese Medicine?

Qi and Blood is one of the many dynamics of what yin and yang are, Qi=yang & Blood=yin, yet they are both. Yin and Yang emanates in all aspects of life, we do not have balance without it and one does not exist without the other. When Qi is no longer flowing in the body and an obstruction occurs within the bodies channel system (meridians), this is when a blockage can cause a disruption of the Qi and Bloods nourishment that the body needs to function at its best, creating disease.

Qi is considered the life energy that flows throughout the body nourishing all aspects of the body. Acupuncture points activate both blood and Qi. “Qi is the commander of blood.” Qi generates the Cupping blood, promotes blood circulation and consolidates blood in the vessels. “Blood is [also] the mother of Qi.” The blood carries Qi to circulate through the entire body while the blood nourishes and generates the Qi.
